Spatial Referencing for Cognitive Support
Spatial Referencing is the skill of referencing the spatial relationship among sensory inputs to stay anchored in the present moment
Train the brains body mapping and sensory integration systems
Develop exteroceptive, proprioceptive and interoceptive skills
Strengthen spatial awareness and present moment orientation
Cultivate focused attention and multisensory awareness
Support neuroplasticity through repeated sensory based training
Somatosensory Cortex
The Somatosensory Cortex contains a neural mapping system with specific areas for specific body parts.
This mapping system facilitates our proprioception, a sixth sense which functions to locate our body in space/ time.
Similar to GPS satellites, the brain processes proprioception with other sensory signals to triangulate and approximate our present moment experience.
Exercising this function strengthens self awareness and induces relaxation.
Cognition Excercises
Exteroception - Perceive and integrate the external environment to your advantage vs. seeing it as a distraction.
Proprioception - Sharpen your bodies built in “GPS” system and tactile perception.
Interoception - Master observation of internal signals from the breath, mind and emotions.
Spatial Referencing - Expand dimensional awareness by referencing your exteroception with your proprioception. Advance your “GPS” system by referencing your whole body, or multiple coordinates at the same time.
Rotation of Awareness - Thoughtfully designed body scanning to sharpen the brains mapping system and induce deep relaxation.
Visualization - experienced guidance to facilitate reflection, memory and peace.
Silence - As the brain waves deepen silence is honored for the mind/body complex to re-lax, re-flect and re-member.
